This weekend I was talking to my cousin about this Media class. (She's an engineer.) She told me that she was trying to keep the internet away from her daughter as much as possible because apparently, internet deprivation can cause psychological problems. She stated that people are so connected to the internet that when you take it away from them they feel like they're being disconnected and they feel a sudden depression. It's kind of like smokers. If you make them quite cold turkey they can go through psychological problems.
Anybody have their opinions and take on this?

I think it goes to a kind of addiction that Courtney talked about in her blog related to gaming...
I notice that I feel like I need be on the internet all the time. I can't simply sit and talk or watch TV without thinking about wanting to check email or play Scrabulous.
I've been avoiding getting a web cell phone and I don't like texting which is a good thing. I deliberately force myself NOT to take a computer with me when I go on vacation. That way I get about 3 weeks per year without the Internet. I miss it, but I feel that it's good for me to experience life without it.
